Golden Boys

Golden Boy is the title of a play by Clifford Odets, first staged in 1937 by the Group Theatre. Its Broadway cast included Frances Farmer, Elia Kazan and Luther Adler. It was filmed in 1939 with William Holden and Barbara Stanwyck in the starring roles. In 1964 the play was made into a Broadway musical with music by Charles Strouse, lyrics by Lee Adams, and book by Odets and William Gibson. The musical starred Sammy Davis, Jr., played for 568 performances, and was nominated for the Tony Award for Best Musical
