Den One is the coming together of DJ's, producers, and all round music lovers Matt Sever and Alex martin. Having met through Myspace, and both sharing a passion for music, new technology, and the funk, decided to give their local underground music scene a much needed shot in the arm. After much work trying to find a suitable home for such a vibe, the duo kicked off a series of parties over the summer of 2006 at Reading's infamous Purple Turtle Basement Bar. Inspired by the humble begins of house music by pioneers such as Ron Hardy, the duo took at hands on technical approach to their fortnightly Den One bashes, and a new home for exciting underground electronic funk in Reading was born. After spending the summer honing their DJ vs. live decks, laptops and gadets sound, and with some rocking parties featuring the likes of Neville Watson, Glimpse, and Mat Carter under their belts, Matt & Alex have recently secured a bi-monthly residency at Reading club Blue. Mixing electronic funk with laptops, gadgets, decks n fx & visuals to boot, with resident VJ's The Alchemist & Eye Fidelity.Just 2 mins walk from Reading train station, and with a 10 - 6am license, the night promises to be another oasis of electronic funk in Reading's nightlife. See gig guide for special guest DJ's and forthcoming events.
