People complain a lot about the lack of moral values in hip hop. I agree to an extent, but I also feel as though there are so man indie artists who beautifully represent the culture of hip hop and can at times go unnoticed by the majority. One of my favourite quotes ever from The Boondocks is Gin Rummy who always says “The Absence Of Evidence Is Not The Evidence Of Absence”. Never a truer word spoken. To find the true hidden gems, it just requires us as true music lovers to dig a little deeper. A lot of times, when I have the opportunity to speak to artists and I ask them who they have been listening to and quite often, they throw out a lot of indie artists that have flown under my radar. I’m often pleasantly surprised. We can’t be everywhere at the same time and sometimes things slip past us… even bloggers. Over the next few weeks, I’m gonna try and spotlight a few artists who I feel people should be paying attention to. This first week, you might recognise these, I’m always posting their work on Rawroots because I think they rock! Check ‘em
